Big Rock Farm | Ida, MI
An Authentic Experience
Our Farm
Big Rock Farm is an authentic, working farm and home to our prized Belted-Galloway cattle and stunning Belgian Draft horses. With over 60 acres of fertile soil and beautiful pastures, Big Rock Farm lends its name to the largest visible glacial deposit in Monroe County, located on our property.

Built in the 1800s, our property was owned and operated by the Knapp family until being acquired by the Zabawa family in the 1970s. Now managed by Lori & Sean Zabawa, the original farmhouse and barns have since been renovated and restored to working condition. With the addition of our brand new venue facility in 2024, Big Rock Farm is excited to welcome guests to experience all that we have to offer.
Our Mission
Our mission is to maintain the original charm and beauty of our land through regenerative farming practices and chemical free growing while sharing an authentic farm experience with as many people as possible.
Our Cattle | The Belted-Galloway
Big Rock Farm is proud to provide a natural and humane environment for our prized Belted-Galloway cattle, or "Belties" as we know them. Ascending from a unique heritage that allows them to survive in extremely harsh environments, this hearty Scottish breed packs tender, lean beef with higher protein, fewer calories, and less cholesterol than most any other breed. Our pasture-raised Beltie cows are grass-fed and grass-finished and provide exceptional nutritional value.
